OfficeMax B&M's across the country should have their monitors and notebooks clearanced because they're making way for Gateway Country stuff. $100 for 17" Compaq Monitor and then $0 after mail in rebate (http://athome.compaq.com/showroom/static/promo/stack_savings/index.asp?cpqsid=76XX8K18S2SR2P9A00A3HCFELCRPDR5B)

Looks like you need the serial number to see if it's even eligible for the rebate.

You need the serial number to enter your rebate, but it clearly states which monitors are eligible here:

Monitor Rebate
$100 cash back with purchase of an eligible Compaq 15", 17" or 19" MV Series, FS Series or FP745A Monitor*.

What's the deal with notebooks? Anybody checked it out yet? I may have to go down there this evening.

i coulda sworn that they had some of these in san diego, but when i go to the website it doesn't list any. am i trippin?

Umm...You have to buy a PC to get the $100 rebate.
They use the word "and" not "or".

Foolio seems like and appropriate name... this was lifted right from their legal mumbo jumbo:

Include bar code labels from the box of PC and/or Monitor and/or Printer product purchased.

(okay... I'll apologize for the zinger now to avoid the flames...)

Also- I went to my local B&M. They did have all of their non-gateway monitors on sale for decent prices, but they weren't Compaq brand. ("Mirage"?)

ya, i went to the website lookin for a BM in sandy eggo. they have that lookup feature thing there. but the closest i could find was van nuys i think :(

I called the local OfficeMax in Langhorne, Pa. near Philadelphia and the guy laughed at me. He said that's old news from last June or July. They closed out all the Compaq monitors and have had Gateway for over 8 months. I guess this deal is limited to some areas that haven't made the change yet.
