Hi,
I'm looking for a printer that can print holograms, so far the only one that i've found was the alps md-5000 which costs somewhere between $400-500 are the any other printers that can do this and are cheaper?

Uh. . . trying to counterfeit some of those nifty microsoft security labels? Hehe, well I think the alps is the cheapest around.

I think you mean metallic. Holograms usually require all kinds of equipment. Like lasers and crap

Thats true, thats why i was surprised when i read that. I think he's talking about the holograms used on the california license which isnt' really a hologram.

I wonder what licensing bodies would do if someone came out with a home holograph kit....they'd have to think of yet another security thing...

The Alps printers are the only ones that I am aware of that will print the "hologram effect." They use a type of gold-foil ink to give the illusion of a hologram.

Heh.. jeez. pretty soon everyone will have a microchip in them for id purposes. So when a cop pulls you over, he won't ask you for your liscense, he will just scan you. :D
