This is one I can help with.

The link comes from my former employer (Responsys.com). They create customized emails and links for their clients (like Office Depot).

The link you see has an encoded email address and offer number in it. (I could explain the schema, but it would probably violate my NDA and I got a nice severance that I don't want to lose).

Basically, when you click it, it is "decoded" and then sent to Office Depot for further processing.

A record is then made in the Responsys database documenting that the link was clicked.

Therefore, if everyone uses this, it will appear that the promotion was very successful, but only one person (smeakim) actually used it (they just used it MANY times).

Since there is this personalization, it is easy to track if Office Depot wants to be a jerk about it. (Not sure of their track record).

Anyone can use this coupon. OD isnt strict on this. I've used these OD coupons before numberous times with no problems.

this is not $100 off $50, but $10 off $50. Since there's no rebate scheme involved, I figure that was a typo.
