OK . . . so I bought the stinkin' Palm USB Adaptor so that I could have my Palm and another Serial device attached to my computer. Welllll, after opening up the thing I find it only works with Windows 98, so I went to the Palm site and downloaded the patch for Windows ME. After dling it, it took FOREVER to get it installed cuz my computer would freeze up every time it tried to install the drivers . . . but eventually it happened.

Well once it got installed and I would see the Com 5 port come up in the potential ports to sync with, the Palm software told me that the Com 5 port was unavailable. So I checked the device manager and it said that there were no conflicts and by all logic it SHOULD be available. It shows that it's tagged for the Palm USB adaptor . . . I just can't figure out why the Palm doesn't see that! I spoke with another friend of mine who is a computer genius compared to me and he says he tried installing this stupid thing for his aunt and came across the same problems and just took it back . . . he's suggested that I just try installing another serial card and just using that . . . but if there's a way to get this stupid thing working . . . and I assume there is . . . I'd rather just do that.

SOOOOOOO . . . any suggestions? . . . I'd really appreciate it! Thanks!

what IRQ is it on? I tried using my palm on win2000 and it couldn't see ANY of the Com ports. Com 1 was on IRQ 3 and Com 2 was on IRQ 4, I switched them so Com 1 was on IRQ 4 and it worked.
