On 3/1/2001 the following deal was posted on the Apex deals page:

X10.com - Home Automation for $6.98 SHIPPED!!! (Posted by: Leon)
Someone emailed me this deal. X10.com is known for shipping out a lot of home automation stuff for dirt cheap! I have a bunch of stuff from them, and if you`re lazier than I am (doubtful) then you will love this. This will require some work, but well worth it. There are a lot of different combos you can purchase, but this one seems to be the best one.

Click HERE to read the official deal.
Give X10 a buzz at 800.675.3044 and redeem voucher #VR000
Order the SuperREMOTE Home Control Kit (TM751; LM465; UR47A) & FREE HawkEYE II: $19.99
Order the RCA LAMP MODULE (HC10LM) for $6.99
Order BEFORE Midnight March 1st, and get a FREE Motion Sensor OR SuperREMOTE!!
Shipping is free for orders over $25, so your total should come out to be $6.98

--------------------------

I order this over the phone and confirmed the $6.98 total with the salesperson.

Today I was informed that my total is $12.88 and that a policy that was not told to the sales people was put in force later on 3/1/2001 reqiring payment for shipping. As a result my order was changed after the fact.

I have informed X10.com that either they give me the $6.98 price or they can take back the merchandise.

Dang - that's harsh! I just checked my CC online statement and I was only charged the $6.98 for the goods, which I received yesterday.

Stick to your guns, I don't see how they can legally change their charges AFTER you purchased the items, especially if they didn't charge everyone the same

I'm sure you can have them cancel your order but wouldnt it be more fun to just give a lawyer something to do? Bait and switch is punishable by means of dead presidents.

hee hee hee, I love my business law class.

They did the same thing for me. When I ordered, I asked what my total was, and the guy said "6.98." I asked "Including shipping?" And he said "Yes." But, my card was charged for $12.88. I called, explained what happened, and they credited me the difference. Try that.
The strange thing was, they also asked me "Did you find out about this from a 'good deals' website?" Why would that matter? I was thinking they were trying to go after Got-Apex users with this shipping charge, but who knows...

Like Tab, I got charged $6.98 and the package arrived yesterday. I placed my order last in the evening of 28th of February (around 8pm EST, I think).

Call them and mention that you know of others who've gotten free shipping with that voucher.

I talked to the Order Processing Manager at X10.com. She was very nice and issued a credit so I would only be charged the original $6.98 for the purchase. Took a while but they did make me whole.

My only gripe is that it took 4 days.

...the salesperson I spoke with told me as I was ordering that the deal was $20 off, not $25 My total was supposed to come to about $14, but it ended up coming to about $19. I love X10 stuff, and I got over $80 (check Lowes/Eagle) of stuff for less than $20. I'll take the five dollar hit and be happy.
