like anyone is ever gonna get me to ride a whimp-arsed hydrogen scooter...
gimme a gas burnin', HP producin', high revvin', neighbour(sp?) annoyin', rubber burnin', fun lovin' crotch rocket anyday, but get near me with some dinky little "go-slower-than-you-can-walk-scooter-putter" and I'll faint from laughing too hard.
Hey, I've got an  for the inventor dood... he can  my arse :naughty::laugh:

Um, scooters aren't the same as motorcycles. and you can't ride a motorcycle into a building w/o producing noxious fumes. The two are definately marketed to two completely different market segments.

It might not be the scooter thats so amazing. It might just be power source, maybe he found a good way to burn hydrogen.

ok, ok... I'll give'em the benifit of the doubt... and if you want to get around inside a building, use a damn bicycle or roller blades. (and yes, i realize the electric carts at airports etc could be replaced with hydrogen power... but what about fuel cells?)

well, if it is more efficient and cleaner than gas powered vehicles, then i would have to say that the joke will be on us. not to mention that we don't know it will perform. it may produce more ponies than your crotch rocket (maybe not)

I wonder if gas companies or the government are trying to stop this. Maybe that's why Kamen is trying to keep it such a secret.

isn't a fuel cell based on using hydrogen for power?

maybe it's just my sick and twisted mind...
but the FIRST thing I thought of was.. the ZEPPELIN.. tht ran off hydrogen!!
could you imagine a line of them.. doesn't combust the hydrogen well.. and you have a bunch of people exploding when they ride them!
AHHAHAHAHHA
thats rich!

Exactly what I was thinking. At Least it wasn't in a weedwacker first. :)

Fuel Cells are just an abstract idea of having a self-contained energy provider where the fuel source, energy production mechanism, and delivery mechanisms are all part of the same package. The actual specifics of fuel, production, and delivery are pretty much left to the imagination. That being said, hydrogen is one of the more popular proposed fuels for cell use. I imagine this is because creating hydrogen is as easy as running an electric current through a container of water, and burning it produces only water as waste. In fact, I've heard that the public buses in Vancouver are already powered by hydrogen cells. They run almost silently and obviously more cleanly than combustion-driven vehicles.
As to the zeppelin reference, I imagine any fuel cell will have a stronger containment chamber than balloon material, since igniting the gas is in fact a necessary part of the energy generating process. The zeppelin never ran off hydrogen, it was just filled with it!
And I'm sure the electric companies will do everything in their power to either keep fuel-cells off the market, delay their release, steal or buy the patent, or lobby the government to regulate them so heavily that only a big player that can pony up a bunch of sunk-cost dollars to meet regulated production requirements (aka the utilities and the banks who finance them) will be able to produce the cells.
maybe it's not conventional combustion

hence steve jobs. Get ready for Buzz Lightyear brand Hydrogen engines and cells...now in Bondi Blue!

Uh oh, when the palestinians start using these things in their suicide attacks, they will become hydrogen bombs!
This totally sucks
maybe not hydrogen bombs....but hydrogen bongs! then the world would be a more placid place
