This just started happening today. When I start up Photoshop 5.5, it goes through the startup routine, but when it gets to the "Initializing type engine..." part, it crashes and gives me this error:
PHOTOSHP caused an invalid page fault in
module KERNEL32.DLL at 017f:bff7b9f5.

Are you running W2K? Photoshop seems to have a ton of issues w/W2K - you may want to check out the user forums on the Adobe homepage. Apparently it's worse w/6.0. We just started using 6.0 where I work, and the machines just aren't stable under W2K with less than 512MB of RAM.

I beg to differ. I'm running 6.0 under win2k with 128 megs of ram and i have yet to see it crash. Of coarse thats just my computer :)
