Not exactly a deal in the normal sense. If anyone remembers scour exchange, it was a napster like system that allowed the exchange of other media types. It was shut down, leaving people with iMesh which is crappy to say the least. Now there is http://www.KaZaA.com/
Its got a neat feature where if multiple people have the same movie, you can download from them all simultaneously. The software splits the file into little (roughly 50k) chunks and you download the chunks in sequence from the various people. If one of them goes offline, you don't lose much at all, and if they all go offline, the software goes and searches for new people who have gotten online with the same file and resumes the download. Pretty durable.
I just downloaded and watched crouching tiger, hidden dragon. Not entirely impressed with the movie. Plot was kinda weak. Bunch of people fighting each other.
Edit: Fixed the url. z and c are too close on the keyboard.

Yeah, no problems here. They have some cool music videos to download, plus movies like traffic, dude where's my car, and crouching tiger hidden dragon. Seems like there could be a bigger selection, though.
well, my hannibal download is takin forever. i don't remember scour takin this long. then again, scour was not good to me

Seems good to me too, but only one question, do some downloads often timeout on you? OR is it just some setting that I need to change on my computer?

No, I don't think it's your computer. I get timeouts a lot when downloading 100+mb files.

Anyway to find out how fast the "artist" is?
On Napster, you can filter out the speed of people, which is good, can you do that on Kazaa?
One guy was giving me like 150k/s yesterday...but others are like 15.
For the guys who have downloaded Crouching Tiger, Traffic, etc., how fast were you downloading?

I just found out about this site, Thanks Twiggy!
joesquared I downloaded both halves of Crouching Tiger at or above 125k/s
There is a speed bar on the right side that shows youhow fast their connection is.

Yeah, and the speed bar isnt always right. I tried downloading from a 5 block rated guy and I got 8.5k/s. I then tried one with a 1 block rating and got 94k/s. You don't have that many choices so just click on them and choose the one that's fastest.

If you hold your mouse over the choice, it will give you a number for the combined bandwidth you will be able to download from. Anything over 100 is pretty fast. Im not sure how the scale is dtermined though, and connection speeds can change over time depending on what you/the other person is doing. I d/l'ed crouching tiger hidden dragon(whole thing) in about 30 mins - about 1/2 gig. Granted I have a university T3 which helps. Make sure you allow others to download from you if you can. Its only fair.
my "hannibal" starts late. i am assuming that is like everyones'?

Heh...if you guys are juicing it for movies, I'm thinking you're gonna get like a couple d/ls, then have to wait for new movies. Anyway, I think that media desktop program is still buggy, cuz I had some wierd problems with it. Seemed to eat up resources too. But yeah, I was able to d/l fight club at like 400k/s on my cable.

I think the IRC is still the way to go in getting movies
