I used this today at several different Office Depot's and got a whole bunch of FREE ink cartridges. They are having an AWESOME clearance sale at the stores that are staying open. Many things are ringing up at 0.12!

This deal came from AnandTech and it was intended for just one person (the person who posted it). Its not a unique code so everyone is using it and OD is and will get hammered for sure. Won't last long.
It is also recommended to cut off the link printed on the coupon so it won't get traced back to the guy who posted.

Would this be valid at Office Max stores, or just the Office Depot ones?

No. No. No!
If I share the coupon with you, you'll try using it, and Office Depot will catch on all the more quickly and stop honoring the coupon and then I won't be able to buy 200 Pelikan M200 rollerball pens for $1.20 each. :)

I went down to my BM (Medford, OR) and the CSR said that the code was locked out of the system because of "fraud." Apparently, corps killed the code in the central system. No big deal, OD stinks to begin with. I see them on the same tier at Circuit City.
Funny how when a company doesn't hire someone to be web savvy at the HQ, abuse happens, and it's *our* fault. "Fraud"? Get over it.

I just returned from OD on the East Coast (Central VA). Cashier said " That's funny it was working this morning." She tried a few more times to enter it, then took out a stack of them from the drawer, compared the coupon code numbers and manually rang up a $20 discount. Customer service manager was standing behind the counter and said they have to honor them until the expiration date on the certificate.

I went to an office depot in sunnyvale, CA. The computer did not recognize the code. The clerk said that it was working in the morning. So the manager told her to use some default coupon code and deduced the $20. She then asked for my print out. I quickly paid with cash and left as fast as I could.

Oh yeah! Still works in Michigan! The CSR didn't even hesitate, punched in the first code, didn't work, so he just took off $20 from my order. Seemed like he had been getting a lot of them today.
Like a dumbass, though, I printed the coupon from the web and never saved the .pdf. Can someone who has the .pdf post it, or send it to me (

J-Dogg
03-13-2001, 05:57 PM
Yes, it is still working! The deal with the code is that is was pulled, but supposedly they get offers like this all the time so they just override it with their own key. I gave the coupon to a bunch of my friends and they all succeeded.
If they do actually say something, then just point out it's a valid coupon, with an expiration date that is still a week and a half away. You printed it out on the morning of the 13th and didn't come right away because you though you had plenty of time.

anyone who gets denied. you need to argue with customer service.
A. it's a valid coupon, with an expiration date more than week away.
B. As posted earlier, say you received it from an office depot offer which is where you got it, not a mistake at all.
C. you waited till now to claim it because you had plenty of time
they can override, or enter $20 off manually as well.

Used it in Napa, got me a fiddy pack for tax, heheh. My roommate also got an ink cart too. They just did the override 1234 deal. Kinda funny how the manager was telling the cashier "oh is that the internet code? Well just override it, 'cause that code has been copied on the net or something." Thats when I paid exact change and walk out as fast I could. . .

I was lucky. Went to 3 different Office Depots during the day and got away with it at all 3, for a total of $60 off...
each time it got a little harder to pass, though. On the last one, someone behind me in line happened to have it too. The manager ended up coming over and after keying it in for me (they used 9999, not 1234 after the original code didn't work...) told me clearly and directly that I couldn't come back in with the coupon. I agreed and left quickly. :)

I used mine today at about 6pm EST. The cashier keyed in the code and it denied it. She then mumbled to herself "damn, none of my coupon codes are working today". And she proceeded to manually override it. I got myself a Kennsington Optical Mouse in a box for free! They had them on clearance for $18.98. Got that and a bottle of soda for about a buck. Cha-Ching!

It was funny to hear that the Mountainview store had a sign on the door about the coupon!

I guess I got it lucky down here in South Florida. The OD near me took the coupon around 6 pm 3/13 and said she had never even seen it before. Both me and my hubby used one! There are about 4 ODs near me, too, but I think I will just be happy with what I already got. VERY tempting, though.

At first, I was about to use credit card,

is there a difference between regular red t-shirt and grey t-shirt?

"what are you guys buying?!?1 "
I used it Tuesday on a $19.99 (sale) leather case thing and paperclips (total price was about a dollar) - Wednesday I got a leather daytimer clearanced from $53 down to $14 along with about 2 years worth of undated pages for 32 cents after coupon. I should quit while I'm ahead, but they did have a sale on computer speakers as well. Hmm... The CS Manager Wednesday gave an excuse for the coupon not being in the systems, something to do with the "web people giving out the coupon before accounting has it into the computer system" or something similar to that - she didn't appear to be fully aware of the REAL reason...
By the way, if no one noticed OfficeDepot.com is doing free shipping on all items over $50 just like Staples does - if we can just get some online coupons...

damn, I feel bad for my wife. I got her to go down to the local office depot ('cause I conveniently had to go to work) and she tried the coupon (yesterday). They gave her a pretty hard time by first refusing the coupon, saying it was in valid, she replied with, "but it doesnt look in valid to me. See, it has the expiration date on here which is more than a week away." Then the manager akse how she got it and she said, "from my husband, he got it from an e-mail." The manager then said, "oh he got it from an e-mail? then it probably IS invalid." Which she then replied with, "but it doesn't expire until next week." He then explained that the coupon was intended for about 100 people but they had received thousands of them. Hmm....how did that happen? Anyway, she ended up getting him to input the coupon and we got a lot of free paper and office stuff.

I wasn't sure whether Office Depot and Office Max were affiliated somehow, so I checked, and it turns out there's no connection. At least, that's what I was told by both a manager at Office Max, and a salesperson at Office Depot, so I'd say that pretty much settles it.

I am coming home and plan to "hit" up some stores... :)
I live in south county
It worked in West LA store last tuesday, and the manhattan beach store last night. I was the first person to bring it there. Yeah, no kidding. I just went again today, plus 3 times over the weekend. It seems to be the only form of cash OD is accepting now :) Some stores in MI have caught on because they received a memo, but other stores still have no clue. I'm almost to the point of feeling bad, but it feels good to be part of perhaps the biggest deal since I have been a member here. I know one guy claimed to get the 20 pack of hard drives, but I doubt it. Is everyone else still using it, or has it been enough?

Sadly, the Office Depot in Timonium, MD (just outside of Baltimore), and the one in Harrisburg, PA, are no longer honoring the $20 certificate.
But both of those stores did honor it up to about Friday. As did the stores in Parkville, Glen Burnie, Pikesville, and Catonsville, MD. (All in the Baltimore area.)
In fact, one could have visited these stores even 2 or 3 times each, using a total of 12-15 of the $20 certificates. Perhaps after work on Tuesday and Wednesday -- days when one was in Baltimore County on business. Since none of the stores are more than a few minutes off I-695.
Yup, one could've done this, all right. :)

The stores around me now know that the coupon isn't valid, but they were instructed to allow the customer to use it one time. Unbelievable! 3 plastic "EXIT" signs (@ 12 cents each, some places made me go over $20 subtotal and I needed to add 1 cent)

Damn, now that's a score. I hope that we won't get flamed for using this deal more than once, but it was really just a coupon :) My roommate and I got a lot of office supplies like labels, tape, 5 reams of paper, a lock box, folders, envelopes, etc. But the main score is yet to happen. We are going to take all of this in and exchange it for a 99lb safe! Always thought it would be cool to have one, and now we can lock up all of our legal docs and dangerous toys. :king:
I just went into a local store today and they changed the coupon to being $20 of $20 to $20 off $100. There was a notice that said that the coupon had been reprinted and that they were sorry for the people who really had the coupon. Oh well. It worked for me earlier in the week. At least I got it once!
The weird thing about this deal is every single store I have been to has told me something different (or accepted it) each time I go. Its different per store, its different per day at the same store too. This is one of the most unorganized attempts by the corporate office to bring order to a retail chain

It's funny, the deal's close to being dead, but like Y2J said, they are so disorganized at the attempt to kill it. Plus, they are still letting people do it, but "only one time, ok?" 3/25 will be a sad day and we probably won't see a deal of this scope for a long time. I'm sure my stash will hold me off, though.
