Right now you can buy a 50X Prime Peripherals CD-ROM drive for $45 at Office Max (B&M). Then just send in the $45 rebate and you end up getting a $57 cd-rom drive for free. I don't know how good Prime's CD-ROM drives are, but for free I'll take it!

ps There were plenty in stock at the stores in my area (Lansing, MI) so there is a good chance that they are still available.

Did this last year. Never received the rebate, and within 6 months the drive died. not worth the trouble imho

Um.... Guess I will do some research about this drive before I jump in. Thanks for your opinion, Bandito.

dude, if the drive and the modem turns out to be POS then that'll be SO bad...

anyway, I shot off an email for Prime Peripherals regarding missing rebates and shoddy quality---

(dude, i already ordered $100+ stuff free after rebate -20 dollar coupon...but the prime peripheral stuff is on backorder...home this doesn't screw up my rebates)
