View Full Version : Strange modem behavior, but i wish it would happen more

ive been using an internal software based modem in my win98se machine. but when i installed winme it only ran at 12000 bps. so i switched to an old usrobotics external 28.8 sportster i had lying around. dont know what happened, but for some reason my connection seemed to be moving kind of fast so i checked the connection speed and it showed 56700 bps. i dont know what happened, but i really wish it would happen more. not something you can say too much when something strange happens on a computer.

but it only happened one time. before that it was at 28800bps and after the little 56700 jump it went back to 28800. dont know why but i wish it would happen again.

lets start a new topic, overclocking your modem.

It could just be showing your port speed...

it said connected at 56700 bps. i dont think that is the port speed, and it has never said that before on this modem. and the only reason i checked it was because pages loaded faster than usual at any time of the day. i think it was connected at 56k.

Sometimes when I check the connect speed, I see 115200 (which is obviously the port speed) once in awhile(especially if the computer has been on for awhile..)
