I have an afreey 8x dvdrom drive... the thing is pretty fast but I do have a minor gripe with it... if I install win2k, on bootup, it hangs when initializing the dvdrom... it will hang for about 2-3 minutes... it eventually boots, but I hate waiting for it to get past that... if I unplug the dvdrom, the system boots up SOOO fast =) I thought it might be the on-board ide controller so i plopped a promise ultra100 card in there, but win2k bootup still hangs when it hits the dvdrom... this problem doesn't happen in win98se (which i'm currently using)... win98se boots up nice and fast...

anyone know what those "test jumpers" on the left of the back of the dvdrom do ? might those help me ? thanks in advance for any advice/suggestions

Not too sure what your exact problem might be. You might try putting the drive on its own channel. Perhaps there is a firmware update?

Then again, pull off (or on) those jumpers and see if it helps any. Also, do it screw up with any other OS's?
