Before I reformated and reinstalled Win2K on my computer, I saveed my Outlook information by exporting everything (ie calendar, emails, notes, etc) to a .pst file. I also did no enter a password for encryption.

Now, when I try to import the file, I get the following error:
"Personal Folders: properties for this information service must be define prior
to use"

When I press ok, I get another message:
"File access denied. You do not have the permission required to access the file
E:\back-up\outlook.pst"

Any help?

Thanks!

hehe...just figured it out.

for future reference, if anyone does back-ups of Outlook by exporting to a .pst file and then burns them to CD, you have to copy it to your hd and then uncheck "read only".

yeah i had this problem before...what i did the second time i formatted my hdd was drag all my mail, contacts, tasks, etc etc to a folder on a floppy...then after re-installing everything, i just dragged everything back in it's place, worked just fine....

i think you can just go to File | Import and select Personal Folder File

That's how you open it, but as wsoung found out, the file can't be read-only. I had a hard time figuring that out the first time I backed up a .pst to a CD also.
