Ping times

Does anybody have any tips on how to lower ping times on a 56K modem? I keep getting lag-fragged in Counter-Strike.

umm only thing i can think of is making sure that nothing in the background is using the connection, and that you connect to the fastest server.
Please, no one be a smart ass and say "get a faster connection".

it really makes a difference who your isp is. Some are faster than others. Aol is faster than prodigy. It all depends, look around for some of the free ones and test out how fast they are compared to your current isp. netzero is free i think juno is as well i'm sure there's lots of others good luck.

I can sympathize with u though man i had a hell of a time until I landed in college with a t1, but it's alot more fun just playing in the college lan where everyone's pings are below 30.

HUmmm today I was getting a ping of around 23-27 on a server it jsut depends what time of the day. During the evening I ping around 50, on the weekends I ping 400.
