Hey guys my cousin made a mistake of buying a geforce256 instead of a geforce2 and i was wondering what is the best way to overclock it?
Although it is a pretty good geforce256 it's a 64MB DDR V6800.
thanks

You may need to replace the heatsink and fan, but I got my old V6800 (32MB DDR) running at 150MHz core speed and memory at 360MHz completely stable. In higher resolutions the speed difference isn't too great between a GF256 DDR and GF2 GTS because the card becomes bandwidth limited. The GF2 GTS will be faster, but an overclocked GF256 DDR isn't too bad. I hope you got a good deal on it.
I received a GF2 GTS Pro today ($200 from newegg.com) and I hope it overclocks well (shooting for 240-250MHz core and 460-470MHz memory).

Alright pretty sweet, any recomendations on where to buy a better heatsink for this card and how to go about overclocking that sucker
thanks
Where to buy: http://2cooltek.safeshopper.com/4/cat4.htm?427

Take a look at the blue orb. Globalwin is decent.
How to overclock: Use and run coolbits registry
win98: http://www.geforcefaq.com/files/coolbits.reg
win2000: http://www.geforcefaq.com/files/coolbitsw2k.reg
Then go into display properties to GeForce's hardware option tab to overclock. Push core and memory speeds up 5 Mhz at a time. Test out the new settings under rigorous games like Quake 3 and UT. If you see any graphical problems (like artifacts} (http://www.anandtech.com/showdoc.html?i=1246&p=4) crank down the speeds until you find the completely stable overclock.
