I need a deal on one of these. The cheapest I found one for is $489 and that is entirely too much. Can anyone help?

Dude, if you found one for $489, I'd jump on it if I were you. Compaq has released a 'new' model with some minor tweaks and upped the price $100 - retail price is now $599. Retailers are selling this new model for between $600 and $750. Have a look at the prices of the places that have it in stock:

Your best bet is to check the Compaq site every day - they occasionaly post refurbs for sale. Either that, or you can try your luck on eBay for one of the older models.
