Hello folks.....I haven't posted in a long time, but this deal looked hot enough to get me going again. I just did this deal, so here's how it works:

1) Go to Staples and order the Dorel Computer Desk and Hutch (search on SKU's 394456 and 394458) for $209.98 for both.

2) Use the Staples $40 off $200 coupon code 91320 before final order confirmation in order to lower the price to $169.98 (not including your applicable state sales tax).

3) Shipping is free because the order is more than $50.

4) Print out and mail in $96 Rebate form available online at Staples which will result in a final price of $73.98 (plus any applicable state sales tax on the original $209.98).

Rebate form says purchase must be made between 3/18/01 and 3/24/01 so you'd better hurry if you want to do this.



I hope you good people think this is a good deal and I apologize for inability to linkify all the locations on Staples. Perhaps someone might be able to help me with this.

Thanx for the Linx. I was going to do it using long names, as you did, but was afraid it would wrap. Can anyone tell me how to link names like these using one word links? I see this being done here all the time.

Will Staples let you file a rebate when you've used a coupon code?

The rebate says:
"Offer not valid with any other rebates, offers or promotions. "

Isn't the coupon code considered a promotion or offer?

I just got off the phone with a Staples CSR who verified that the rebate is good together with the $40 coupon. FYI....I saw this desk/hutch combo in my local Staples last night and IMHO it's a steal at this price.

Stinking Staples. They accepted my online order, and confirmed it with an email too. I then called to reschedule the delivery by one day so I could be home to receive it. No problem, they say. When I called yesterday to ask where the goods were, they tell me the order is cancelled due to out-of-stock merchandise. Terrible CSR of no use whatsoever. To top it off, I checked the web site today and the furniture is still in stock.

Anyone have a suggestion on a) who to contact at Staples, or b) how to get the order reinstated so the purchase date falls into the rebate period?

Oh man that really sucks. I feel for you. Staples does suck, that's why I was hoping someone out there found another great deal on a desk. Again, sorry man :(

my sister has that exact desk as shown in the picture but under a different brand name. i think its bush. it really sucks, its flimzy and badly fitting. i have put together a lot of furniture, including a custom tv stand that holds a 300+ pound tv, and i have never seen anything that has such a low quality control. the only reason we didnt return it was that we got it for around 50 bucks

It is almost always worthwhile to call a second CSR if the first Staples CSR doesn't provide sufficient satisfaction. On the second time around, the CSR confirmed that there was stock on hand now, placed a replacement order, assured me that the rebate would go through, and then promised to fax AND snail mail a printout from her computer which showed that the original order was within the rebate period. She even asked if I had originally used a coupon.

I did call the Rebate Center to confirm that this would process without a hitch, and it was re-affirmed.

Now, maybe I better go into a B&M to see if the construction is that bad. Always time to cancel since they won't deliver until next week.
