View Full Version : Looking for a combo digital still camera / camcorder
I'm looking for a combo digital still camera / camcorder that uses some kind of removeable media (memory stick, CF, whatever) for the stills. I saw a couple a Circuit City today, but they both recorded the stills onto the video tape. This obviously won't let me (easily) get the images into my computer. Something around $450 - 550 would be nice.

the low end JVCs... can be found for aroun 700++
and the high ends are listed at around 1200-1300 in stores and most online stores. But some smaller stores have them for 800+... use http://www.pricegrabber.com or http://mysimon.com to check for the best prices.

Sony makes some with memory stick, which the photo is saved to, but these are out of your price range.

look into getting a low end camera with firewire, this makes for an easy way to pull stills and full motion off your cam into your computer... and firewire cards can be found under $80 for pc's.

I don't think your going to get good quality out of a combo device (that almost applies to everything)

I used to think so too about combo camcorder/still-cams
but after seeing the quality on the JVCs, I was proven wrong.. those ones are fantastic...
well at least i think so....
Hey Chinpoko_Mon - which model did you get? I may just throw some extra moola into savings for 2-3 months and get a really good one instead of a budget model.
