Low speed crash and I am not admitting fault, but I doubt there is much defense in a rear-ender.

Both cars are drivable and I am FULLY covered with insurance.

Any suggestions as I go through the claims process? (Both of us are insured by Liberty mutual)

Report it to your insurance ASAP, fill out all the forms. Do everything they say, but most of all

Forget about it. That's what insurance is for.

Rear-ended somebody?

Just grab ankle and take it like a man. Sure, your insurance'll head northward when it comes time to renew, but hey: whaddya gonna do?

Unless you can prove they backed into you, you're screwed

Unless he/she was driving erratically, or cut you off, or floored the brakes (on purpose)... I think you're outta luck.

But like Ken said, that's what you bought insurance for. Just be glad that nothing disastrous happened.

:hmm:
Follow him around for a while and gather some really good dirt. Blackmail him and you'll never hear anything from your insurance :)

Perhaps you misunderstood.
I was NOT looking to assign fault (or escape blame).

Rather I was looking for how to deal with the adjusters, etc.

I already realize that I fall into the category of "BAD risk" (I totalled my previous car last May as I rear-ended someone less than 1000 ft from where I had this accident -- Perhaps I should give out my license number so you can swerve to avoid me when you see my car coming)

Damn, seriously. What kind of car do you drive?

Tell the adjusters the truth. Don't lie and make it hard for the guy you hit, claiming he backing into you or other BS. Let him get his money. Don't help your insurance company screw him.

If you insurance company asks you to lie (I know mine, 21st century, tends to do so) - by asking you "was the other driver driving erratically, did he cut you off, or floor the brakes, hopefully on purpose? [wink wink, nod nod]"

DON'T DO IT.

Unless that is, you're fond of insurance companies.

Take it like a man and don't weasel out of your responsibility. Not to imply you wouldn't.

How much damage is there? You might be better off just handling it privately

I'd say take a different way home.

If you hit any car these days, it is over $500. It is not worth settling privately.

We both have the same company and I think they will be fair with him.
