I recently installed into my computer a new motherboard with a 1 GHz AMD thunderbird chip. Anyway, when I check my system settings, messages appear informing me that both of my hard drives and my file system are running in ms dos compatibility mode. Is there anyway I can get around this or fix the problem?

did you reinstall the operating system after you upgraded your cpu/motherboard? If not then i suggest you do so.

Be sure you installed the all the chipset drivers,,, and the CORRECT ones! Look to see what drivers are, or aren't, being loaded.

what kind of Mobo are you using?

make sure you install the latest Via 4-in-1 drivers, which you can get at http://www.viahardware.com

also, make sure you you don't have any irq conflicts or cards that are not installed all the way - that can sometimes force compatibility mode.

The KT133 chipset can be pretty particular about the order you install components and drivers after loading Windows.

I loaded the 4in1's right after loading Windows, before loading anything else. ALso be sure of your Bios settings and that AGP is enabled. When you install the VIA agp drivers with the 4in1, with 4x enabled, install them in Turbo to get 4x.

I haven't time at the moment to go into it further, but you can email me so I can forward all the stuff I've downloaded on the Kt133 and instalation process.

thanks a lot. It's all working now. There was some device that didn't have the correct driver
