i was just wundering wtf that meant. i am returning a maxtor hd and was browsing the site. i came along the following text.

"Please note that your hard drive will be
replaced with a factory re-certified hard drive."

does that mean that they are gonna replaced my fuked up drive with a another drive that will potentially fuk me over? and i've heard that maxtor drives dont have to most reliable drive. good thing i didnt store anything important in it.

havent been in the off-topic forum in a while :)

its probally jsut refurbished

used to be bad
it was sent in and fixed
kinda like your will be when you send it in

they will fix it and send it to someone else as "refurbished" or "factory recertified"

if you are sending in a drive recently bought as new, it should be replaced with a new drive. if it is "older," then a refurb would be more understandable
