I am having a huge problem with my main computer.

When I turn on the computer and it gets to the Windows 2000 login screen I type in the password and then I get the error "The system cannot log you on now because the domain CVPDC01 is not available". I believe this means that the computer is trying to find a workgroup and since it is not finding it I cannot get into my computer. I can't figure out anyway to bypass this and/or correct it.

I have tried booting up from my Windows 2000 disk but I couldn't get it to work (I changed the boot disk to the cd rom in BIOS) I have also tried to boot up the computer in various safe modes but everytime it asks me for the password and I get that error.

My little bro was messing with my comp the other day and I think he may have accidentaly done this.

Can someone please help me?
Thanks a million.

When you boot up and get the password screen, click the "Options" button and there will be a domain list box. Change it to whatever your computer's name is you should see "pcname (this computer)" in the box. Select that one and login and you should be OK.

Well there are no such options under the "options" tag. Any other suggestions?

P.S. It's Windows 2000 professional.

Do you see a domain box? What's in it?

No there was no domain box, but I have fixed the problem.

What I ended up doing was reverting back to windows 98 and then upgrading back up to windows 2000. Everything works fine now and I didn't lose any files.

Thanks :)
