maybe i am being unrealistic :disa:...but life should be as enjoyable as when you are on vacation. i don't mind work....but this crapuccino doesn't make sense! i feel like packin up my toys and takin the princess  back to the island

Reality is full of illusion, and illusion is full of reality. Or something. Damn sugar buzz

Reality is a poor substitute for a properly developed personal delusion.

mOjO,
I go to the FL Keys every year, and I feel the same way. After the 2nd trip, I was seriously considering moving down there and getting a job bartending (probably making 5 times as much as I make here), but couldn't move that far from my family.
I could've said "Life is what you make of it", but who gives a shit... it's still not Hawaii or the Keys.
I look foward to the next time I can make it down there again, which is never soon enough! :)
hmmm....tending bar. i never thought of that.
now...are those trade schools for bartendering any good? i mean, do bars hire from there? i hear those ppl make some scratch on tips

I've never been to a "bartending school", just learned from being on the job.
I had a friend that went, and they just taught her basic stuff like what the different glasses are called, how to cut fruit the pretty way, what on the rocks/straight up means and recipes.
If I'm remembering correctly the class cost her $400.00. You can buy a book and it'd teach you the same crap, in my opinion.
In the Keys, bartenders in the right joints are making $300.00 or more a shift in tips. I was talking to one girl and she made $500.00 one afternoon when they were haveing a bikini contest.
It's good money, alot of hustle though.
But then again, they have machines for the frozen drinks so you just gotta push a button, and alot of bottled beer.

Don't forget that women usually make more than men in service jobs like bartending and waitering. And also the more attractive you are the better your tips.
well....i am not a beautiful woman, that is for sure

I like you went to hawaii, and like you after i came back all i could think about is going back there. But you have to realize its no longer fun if you have to live there, all your doing is taking all your problems to a new state. I live in California, a really cool state, but its no fun anymore (not as much as visiting it would be anyway).
ya, well, i live in cali too....but i was actually born in hawaii. no, i am not hawaiian (it's not fair). i know i would be transplanting my problems. but right now my ex...er....problem or current problem lives here. i get into too much trouble here, especially for someone who never does anything to hurt anyone (ask the princess :amidala: ), so i kinda wanna start over. there is a better place than <insert crappy place here>. plus i can prolly learn japanese there better than here. it may be the only way to get the princess  all to myself. but mostly i wanna start over.

Last rip to Fla. I seriously considered moving there. I almost wanted to screw to job and just chill in S. beach for a bit. My girlfriend was sorta down with the idea, I thik I needed more initiative though....I didn't see myself actually going through with it.
I'm going to Italy next week for like 10 days, and while I'm psyched to go....I know by the end I'm not going to want to come back and then I'll be depressed...I know it sounds petty but it does toy with ones mind, especially if one is not entirely happy with their present situation (translation: job)
my present situation entails my ex wife and everything that keeps me from the princess  . i want to move to hawaii, but i found that she is getting cold feet. now i gotta apply some pressure....or not. i don't care....as long as i can be with the princess. whatever. wherever.

My buddy went to Hawaii to see his son graduate from the military. He was married, but his wife didn't go. He met an old friend there by accident. They hit it off again. He divorced his wife and is now married the one he met in Hawaii.
I think it's something in the water.
I went to Hawaii on business for a few days in Oct 99. No rental car (none were available) and my customer was an overbearing crybaby. I came home without having a single minute of fun. Stuck indoors, no time for the beach, very little scenery. I might as well have been in Fresno.

"something in the water"....lol....that is great! hehe. my boss suggested the same thing, cuz i came back and i was sick.
when i went, i didn't rent a car. everything was easily accessed on foot or by bus. if i stayed longer, i woulda needed a car. but, ya, you gotta go outside. if you ever go again with that crybaby, bail on his @$$! i mean, really....the flight is long enough to require that all parties go in the water at least 10% of the time they are there.
