View Full Version : HP Celeron 500 needs new HD, what kind of restrictions?

A friend of mine has a Celeron 500 Mhz HP, not sure exactly what model, but her hard drive just went bad. I was wondering if I could replace her HD with a 30GB one from AccessMicro, but I remember reading something here at G|A about older computers not able to handle the bigger hard drive. I imagine this has more to do with the motherboard than the processor, but can you tell me in general if a 30 GB hard drive might cause problems? Thanks!

It should have no problems accepting a 30 gig drive.

Thanks again brutha!
its HP...you never know what type of board they might have used. the board should be able to take it, but then again, you might have to flash the bios for that to work. you never know. its HP.
