I got in on this deal...yeah!!! And assuming that I am going to recieve my RAM, will this RAM be compatible with my computer (HP 6830) AND is it safe to use it while using what I have currently (I have 2 slots). Currently, I have one stick of Crucial 256mb PC100.
What is ECC RAM?
And, by the way - dumb question, what the heck is a mobo?

ECC memory
Short for Error-Correcting Code memory, a type of memory that includes special circuitry for testing the accuracy of data as it passes in and out of memory.
here is a good little FAQ...

I hope this will also help someone else out.
I found a more specific link...

If someone has the same situation as me and are willing to install or have installed, I would appreciate some advice or let me know how it went. I'm not going to intall mine until I hear from someone who had done it successfully.
And if we don't get the mem...I guess I just learned something new.
