I am attempting to fix up my bike... How does one remove the chain? It seems to be hooked to gear assembly... And how do I repalce the chain, I mean where to buy

your chain should have a master key-link somewhere with a pin the can be removed. Often, key is "T" shaped, so the little "8" will have a larger than normal center. After that, take yor chain to a sporting goods store and they'll hook you up with a new one that is the same length/width.

Before you begin, make sure you either wear gloves or have some good soap. The grease is a bizatch to get off, especially under the nails.
Bires post sounds fine. You might also see if there is any 'play' in the chain (most non-pro's have some) and just work it off. Not the best method but if you're scrapping the chain anyway...

Yep, $12 should be fine as long it has a good warranty, (like 30-day no break or something similar).
