If you are willing to put out $9.95 US/$14.95 CAN, you can order the Microsoft Office XP trial scheduled to be shipped on April 30, 2001 which is a full month before the official release of May 31st.
Note it is a 30-day trial copy of Office XP.

Is it backwards compatable?
If not, then any documents you create will be hard to share since few will have XP

MS Office has always been backwards compatible - but you have to specifically save files in the old format. I don't see what they can really add to Office to make it really inticing though. Adding FrontPage and PhotoDraw wasn't helpful for office 2k, as both these peices of software stunk.

has a lot of improvements... there are tons of reviews.. check em out for yourself and decide if it'z worth $10.
The beta expires on August 31st making u either go back to watever u had before or to buy the new one

I just finished downloading IE 6.0beta. The improvements are more annoying than useful. I get New MS updates free for a few years anyways from college, so I'll just wait until they roll out the full versions.

IE 6 beta is not cool at all...
All must agree, that no matter how much of a pain in the ard IE 4 was, it was THE browser that changed the way everyone uses the Internet today.
Sorry Nutscrape...YOU SUCK!!!

I don't think there should be charges for Betas.

"Sorry Nutscrape...YOU SUCK!!!"
Nice to see people paying respect to what was a really good company. Nice to know Monopolies that destroy and imitate are rewarded for there actions.
Hello Finality :wavey:
Microsoft certainly was underhanded. But Nutscape did not innovate. They are much more responsible for the sad condition they are in. No one I know uses Netscape. Even longtime Netscape users like me.
"Nice to see people paying respect to what was a really good company." Does that hold for 3dfx partner? I seem to recall you smacking down dumbass 3dfx fanboy wupass after 3dfx croaked. :heh:

you can always get Microsoft Betas for $10 ... they just charge that for shipping and handling, and if it was free, a billion people would order it. i think its a good idea, b/c if nothing else you get a test copy to see if its worth upgrading too later, and you are the first one on the block with a sneak peak. i got a copy of Visual Studio.NET 7.0 about a month ago, and as a programmer, it was a very valuble look at the next generation of programming tools. just my 2cents.

Netscape was doing good until they were bought by AOL.

Office XP final has been out for a while through "Unofficial channels". I don't see why microsoft is still selling beta copies.
It looks a bit prettier and the only improvements I've seen so far is the Voice Control and Dictation. But I've never gotten them or the Dragon Dictate to work with any decent amount of accuracy.

How to change reg code after already reging... now office is in disabled mode

XP has voice control? Whoa - i didn't think MS would release that binded with software. Nice. Anyone know if there is anything like that integrated into Whistler?
04-04-2001, 09:41 AM
You better call it XP... saying Whistler out loud will give you the BSD...
