America has a problem, or more specifically, is in a problem relationship with some bad folks. Like a middle schooler being peer~pressured into vandalizing a classroom, America is manipulated by these folks to wage war on people we have no real reason for waging war against.
Take the present action in Columbia, a facile facade for more fat contracts for helis and munitions, financed by the American people to pay for Capitalism's never ending lust for war and the easy profits that accompany it.
America has no cause for war. We're on the frickin' other side of the planet from everyone else, surrounded by vast seas. This is the Old World's game that we have been cagily manuevered into; it is not a game we need to play.
The East would have done the same thing had they won the battle royale for resources and dominion.
In war no one stay on top for long, no matter how long the interludes may seem. In sharing there need not be the constant upsurtion of the past; a Peace dividend would be quite large indeed, large enough to take care of everyone except the merchants of death.
America alone has the choice rarely given other great mythic kingdoms :
