Hey people.
I finally got my cable modem working and now that I'm able to download songs, my winamp is not working. When I double click a song to play it loads into winamp but plays like half a second and just stops. nothing happens when I press play. I've tried reinstalling it....still no luck.

another thing is when I plug in speakers into the jack, all I get is a wierd pulsing sound. Is it possible that my ethernet card could have some sort of conflict with my sound device?

I don't know if the sound device has anything to do with the winamp malfunctioning. But anyhow I can't listen to music. I need some help!!! Any suggestions?

try listening to it in Media Player, does it work?

Yeah it seems to work, display wise.... The time bar moves and the second indicator (00:00) seems to work but I still get the pulsing sound in my speakers. I guess I'll have to get my soundcard fixed first.

but if it were a hardware problem why would my winamp freeze??

yeah I've done all that....I'm still using Win 98 by the way.

Something tells me that pulsing noise in the speakers is more likely to be a hardware problem. I'll try shaking the case around a bit and then see what I can do software-wise.

Try reinstalling the sound card drivers or better yet look for newer versions and make sure there are no irq conflicts with the modem and the sound card.

do any sounds work, not just mp3s, but wavs or midis? what kind of speakers do you have, digital or analog? if you have digital, does your sound card support digital output? if it does do you have digital output enabled? and what sound card do you have?
