I'm looking to buy a 256 stick of Micron PC2100 ddr, and the ECC version is only about $10 more than non-ECC. Assuming the mobo supports ECC, is there any disadvantage or pitfalls to using it, or is it just wasted money?

I think its a tad slower (probably wrong though)

Heh, BIG disadvantage to using it if your mb doesn't support it. I have an Asus a7m266 and, even though AMD states you can use it, when I enabled ecc in the bios, I couldn't even get a vid post. Everything locked down, hard. After I reset the cmos it is working fine. Albeit not in ecc mode...

Sounds to me like I'd be better off with non-ECC and a couple six packs of Blue Ribbon.
