S: driving habits

:yell: I am so sick of being tailgated and cut off. Yesterday this bitch tried to pass me as we both got onto the ONE LANE ONRAMP! I wasn't poking along, I was going as fast as the car in front of me, and about 2 1/2 car lengths behind. When we get onto the freeway she passes me, flips me off, then cuts across three lanes of traffic without even looking to see if it was clear. No turn signal, of course. I really hate it when people change lanes without signaling. WTF makes you so GD special?!? :bawl: AAARRRGGGHHH!!!!

I wouldnt make a blanket statement that all women are bad drivers, but I would say that there are different levels of ability among drivers out there. Here is the ranking as I see it:

Caveat: No offense is meant by my descriptions of any particular group - a joke

(From worse to best)

1. Old Minority (take your choice) Women - afraid of the road, drive about 20 mph in a 70 zone, dont pay any attention to anything
2. Old Women and Men (inclusive) - generally just drive slow, some maybe afraid of the road
3. Young African American males (16 - 29)- always need to prove something so I always see them causing pileups
4. Young Asian males (16 - 29)- like to see what their souped up cars will do and thus have a propensity to drive in and out of traffic
5. Young white males (16 - 20) - general disregard for all safety, just like the speed and to show off
6. Mid-life crisis (mostly white) males- (46 - 55) Just got their mistress, sports car, and receding hairline - they like to show what their new car can do to the 20 something girl they are seeing on the side
7. Young white males (21 - 29) - have gotten so many tickets they slow down :)
8. Young women (19 - 29) - finally find the gas pedal and realize that they too can speed
9. Young women (16 - 18) - Go 20 in a 25 for fear of speeding. Fathers have terrorized them about the perils of driving enough that there is no question, they will die if they speed.
10. Middle aged women (35 - 50) - seem to all suddenly forget what it means to drive...like to zone out and then make sudden moves when they come back in
11. Middle aged males (30 - 45) - generally just happy to be away from their life, the ones you see smiling and singing along.


The all time best drivers on the road are................

12. Back seat drivers! - they never would have made that turn and they wouldnt have gotten that ticket for speeding.

Almost the same thing happened to me, but it was in local traffic. There I was going along with everyone else, when this woman just plain cuts in front of me, no signal and straight out just flicks me off. :johnwoo2: Then she won't go when the light is green, so I decide to just go around, that's when I got pissed, she tried to box me out! So being the "great" driver I am, I went into the left turn lane at the next signal, guess what? I ran back right in front of her and took up both lanes to retaliate. That got me a good earful from my mom who was in the car. :)

I truthfully do not know why she was pissed at me. This woman just appeared from nowhere.

overclocked, just total the bitches car next time and collect the insurance, people like that need a lesson in humility once in a while. Not, like I do (looking around). ;)

dude, i don't know about anyone else...and i am not saying anything about anybody else here.....but my whole thing is that i am glad to get there in one piece, and i hope to get back the same way. what happens in between is incidental. i have real problems.

ok, i didn't even read the last thread about women drivers because i know it would have made me mad and i just didn't want to deal with it.

but to all you people who over generalize, you suck. i'm sorry, but thats how i feel.

anyway, there are just as many bad male drivers out there as female drives.

take the other day, for instance. there was an accident in falmouth, ma (near where i live) that killed 6 people because some stupid MALE was going 80 in a 50 MPH zone. he lost control of his car, hit someone else and all 6 people who were on the road got killed. his car ended up getting cut in half. he was an idiot, and if he had been driving anywhere near the speed limit, he may still be alive. and his three friends that were in his car with him would still be alive. and the two completely innocent people who were just driving home from the movies wouldn't be dead either.

i'm a female, and i think i drive just fine. i drive faster than the speed limit more than often, but not so much that its harmful to me or anyone around me. if the speed limit is 65, i'll probably being going 75-80.

what pisses me off the most is men feel the need to pass me/cut me off on the highway because i am female. you know, the guy who is driving behind me, speeds up to pass me, cuts back in front of me, then proceeds to go 5 mph slower than i had been going. then he flips me off when i pass him.
yes, there are bad women drivers. but in the same note, there are bad men drivers.

In the past year or so, every single time I have been cut off by some idiot, it's been someone who's yapping on the phone instead of watching where they are going. They're also the idiots that are driving in the fast lane at 10 MPH under the speed limit.

The other day I saw this great thing! A guy was riding his bike along on the sidewalk and came to a cross street. A woman driving a red SUV (all alone in there, even though she can fit a fully-padded football team with her) pulled up to the stop light and over the cross walk so the front of her car was hanging out in the lane. The guy on the bike stopped right in front of her passenger-side door and started banging on the window, making gestures about how she was talking on the phone and not looking and then yelling at her to get the hell out of the way. It was beautiful!

I don't dump all women drivers into the "bad" category. My mom doesn't drive anymore due to a disability, but I remember a few years back being very surprised and pleased at how she handled different driving situations. My ex wife, on other hand, was a complete psycho bitch when she got behind the wheel. Well, she was a complete psycho bitch ALL the time, but never mind. Almost got us killed more than once.

It's not the women drivers that scare me. Most seem to do all right in this area. What scares me are all the guys who own the large super size trucks that think they can drive anywhere they want. I saw one guy so fed up with trafic he pulled on to the center medean and drove on the grass in the middle of the highway till he found an opening to get back on. Some people are just nuts when they get behind the wheel! They're normal walking on the streets but once they put in the key...LOOK OUT! I NOW OWN THIS ROAD!

The other day I was driving through traffic (Silicon Valley) and some person that owned a BIG SUV, GOES around a pothole in the road. Aren't SUV's supposed to be more rugged than a sedan or what not? Well that incident had me CRACKING UP !!!! In my Civic I take any pothole or debris on the road :) :) My question is.. why do ppl buy this big hunkin cars and don't know how to maneuver them?? Like parking for example....
