The deal on 18.1" LCD is very tempting. However, it has .28mm on pixel pitch. I'm currently using ViewSonic GS790. Could I really tell the difference (picture quality) between them?

Dot pitch on an LCD is a calculated unit. In other words, every single 18." LCD that does 1280x1024 will have exactly the same dot pitch.

But to answer your question, yes you will see a difference. I have an 18.1" LCD (.28 dot pitch) and it's far clearer than even a .22 dot pitch monitor. I'm on the Compaq TFT8020.

And, since every single pixel is defined, and refresh is done pixel at a time, 60hz on a LCD is enough to put a 120hz CRT (which is refreshed line by line) to shame.

only problem is that although 60hz looks really good on an LCD, it kinda sucks for gaming. I dont know why they dont make the refresh higher.

I agree with you. However, I use my system mainly for coding and programming these days (so my video card can have some rest from previous Quake III madness). It would be nice if they could make the refresh rate higher but for $899, I wouldn't complain anything. :D
