I was wondering if you hafta buy the new Turbo Tax software every year or if I can use my copy from last year? I bought TT 1999 and sent in the thing to get my money back (it was a posted deal that it was a money back guarantee) and they never sent me my money! Instead they've sent me numerous solicitations to buy this year's verson! I bought the Deluxe version that allows you to download one state form too.. any chance I can get another state form from them? I need to file 1040 and 1099-misc. I doubt much has changed.. right?

I hope you were joking about that.
The tax code changes a LOT every year!! Just because the "rate" may not change does not mean that little things that end up making a big difference don't change.
It is not worth the prison time to save $20
If you are cheap, just use Turbo Tax on the Web.
I worked at Intuit (makers of TT) so I know how much the tax code changes.
i second that. tlg is right. it's not worth it, man! cough up the $20. then burn it for your friends for $5 a piece. 4 friends and you break even....til uncle sam gets his share. then you po again

Side benefit. As Turbo Tax will mention as it is filling out the forms, the cost of the program itself (assuming you bought it legally and have a receipt) is deductable. Also, if there is a COMPUTATIONAL error, they will cover the cost plus all fees. In the past, they have also covered logic errors too.
although the odds of computational error that the irs cares about would be somewhere between 0% and 0.0001%.

m0j0 thought you might have known this being in San diego, home of TT.
Several times, there have been blunders by the team that have caused problems. It cost Intuit some money, gave them bad press, and caused some San Diegans to lose their jobs.
There are normally a few small bugs every year and a big one every couple or three years. Part of it is the IRS which keeps changing the tax code so much
pardon me whilst i remove my head from my arse
