New Type Computer Workshop Online has a Generic nVidia GeForce 256 with 32MB SDRAM 4x AGP for only $88! The store is located in the Vancouver so area residents can go to the store and pick it up. For everyone else across Canada shipping started at $19 when I checked. You can chose US as a country and enter your state, etc. but I'm not 100% sure if they ship to the US. You can give them a call if you like at 604.899.0328 or e-mail them at [email protected]

This price is not that good anyway. This is the 256 version and when you add in the shipping it comes out to be right around multiple retail MX version at Newegg. Let alone the 32M Radeon is less than that...

Bandito where's the 32MB Radeon less than $76 or the MX2 for around that price.

This is a great deal for those that live in the lower mainland. If you can pick it up, it's quite cheap. I don't need one though. I've got a Radeon TIVO for my primary computer and a Radeon VE for my secondary. I WOULD have got this if I saw it a week ago (before I ordered the Radeon VE)

nwarawa, you would take a Geforce 256 over the Radeon? The visual quality is SOOO much more superior on the Radeon.
I would not take a GeForce 256 over a Radeon. The Radeon is faster and more feature rich.
This is the sdram version of the GeForce. The sdram holds back the performance at 1024x768x32 resolutions. Hence the reason why the ddr version of the GeForce 256 came out. A Radeon LE, 32 meg DDR Radeon, or a GeForce MX would be better in my view.
"The visual quality is SOOO much more superior on the Radeon." Not for me its not. For other people it has been. GeForce cards even from the same manufacturer seem to have such varying image quality.

I wouldn't be picking it over the Radeon because of features, but because of price. The Radeon VE was $77 shipped, whick ends up being $120Cdn. $88Cdn is a good bit cheaper. And, this is the VE model, which means no T+L, a cut pipeline, and 64-bit memory bus. It is not near as fast as the normal Radeon 32MB DDR, or the LE for that matter. It's usually somewhere between a GeForce256 SDR and a GeForce2MX. I don't regret my purchase though. It is currently the best all-around Dual-Head video card out there (G450 sux at 3D, the GeForceMX sux at DualHead). Plus, I'm going to overclock the snot out of it... ;)

I see. You must live in Canada. That would make a difference. I was figuring in the $19 for shipping to the US. It would make a difference if you didn't have to pay that.
BTW I am not sure if you have been following the thread on Anandtech on the Radeon. People that already bought it have said that Newegg is in fact shipping the card with T&L.
Not only that. If you read the link it also states it (from Newegg product description):
"Powered by ATI''s RADEON™ GPU
CHARISMA ENGINE™ supports full Transformation, Clipping and Lighting (T&L) at 30 million triangles/second peak processing capability for a 10-fold improvement in 3D details"
