I've tried to drink beer, I really have. But to me most beer tastes like something died in it. The only beer I ever liked was Belgian white beer, and I have no idea where to get it. I usually drink port, mixed drinks (kamikazes mostly), and sometimes cream sherry. What beer do you suggest I try?

You'd probably find it or be able to order some from your local beer store. I would suggest you try some other beers from that part of the world. Maybe Duvel, Chimay. And hey, if you don't like beer, it's not a crime. If you like port (ick!) drink port. Just don't ask for it in my house. j/k

Beer is definately an acquired taste, even more than coffee is.

See if you can find the beer you do like, or do a little research into what might be similar, and try that. Drink what you DO like, to start with. Get comfortable with it.

Once you find something you really like, and can appreciate, then you can experiment and try things that are just a little different. Dont' jump from the Belgian White to a stout, because it'll be too big a switch, and you won't like it. Just do things gradually. Some things you'll probably like. Some you won't. Nothing wrong with that.

But like topane said, if you don't like beer, don't worry about it. Personally, I don't like wine. Red, white, doesnt' matter. I never acquired a taste for it.

Oh, by the way, a friend and I are creating a site at http://www.chooseyourbrew.com . Hopefully once we get it up and running, you will be able to find something that suits your fancy! :D

if you like belgian white, try blue moon belgian white. i find it sometimes at my local vons or ralph's.

personally, i find that i can't go wrong with a sam adam's or a sierra nevada. belgian white seems a bit creamy, so maybe if you try a cream ale you might like it. beer is highly personal. some ppl like the lighter stuff (corona, bud, etc). i like my beer to taste like something (the lighter stuff tastes like light beer used to taste to me). as was stated b4, try some stuff, but don't go for the stouts or porters right away. pete's line has some interesting flavored stuff. i would definitely stay away from cheep beers. i had a bad experience with a henry weinehart's like 3 yrs ago and haven't been able to go that route since.

Cheap beers and ultra-mass produced beers too.

If you've seen it advertised during a football game on tv it's probably not that great, OR, if you can afford it with just the change in your pocket, you don't want it.

If you've seen it on tv, AND you can afford it with the change in your pocket, well, get friendly with it, because you'll be seeing it again soon.

I hated beer when I first started drinking it. But after a while I started to like it. You just need to get buzzed about 10 to 20 times and you'll start to like it.

Beer just sucks. There isn't one out there that tastes any better than an old shoe. Just stick to mixed drinks. That way you can have just the right tast your looking for!

Duff. Or if you want an import, try Düff!

Too funny....

But really...beer sucks! Heck my last name is MILLER but you would never see me drinking Miller Beer. I'd rather drink from the toilet bowl!

Don't listen to the naysayers Overclocked! Just keep drinking until you do like it, I promise it will happen. And if you don't acquire a taste for it, then it means there must be something wrong with you ;) .

if you have a buddy that brews, have him/her whip up a nice batch of beginner brew for ya. fresh brew is good brew! and if you don't have such a friend, try some microbrews.

um....you ARE over 21, right?

I feel the same way as you...Beer sucks.

Question is why do you feel the need to like a beer. There are plenty of other good drinks.

Personal Favorites are:

Kamakazies
Mike's Hard Lemonade
Whisky Sour
Mud Slide
Shots of Vodka

I'd agree with everything but the whiskey sour.

although i have acquired more of a taste for beer. tonight i had a killians, and it was good. i've always like stouts too. sadly, i'm not supposed to drink anymore. stupid blood sugar problems.

Well the whiskey sour, is only good if you have ghram crackers (long story, involving cramming for Philosophy)

Also add to the list

Toasted Almond (not very alcoholic, but tastes good)

I love beer. But I used to live in Germany so I was kind of forced to. Depending on what you don't like about it, you can probably narrow down the choices of beer to try. If after you try all these you still don't like beer, then like Zen said there is definitely something wrong with you. j/k :)

My ex girlfriend used to hate beer, until one day at a bbq she had a Corona with a lime in it. After that she liked to drink Corona. I know Corona being a beer is debatable, but atleast as close as Ice House or Rolling Rock. Give it a shot and let us know what you think.

I dont care much for the taste of beer. But hey, I drink it like a man. You'll get used to it eventually.
