I was sent this in an email this evening..

You can join the Class-Action law suite against MCI and receive a cash settlement. From February 1996 until
October 2000, MCI unlawfully charged millions of
subscribers undue rates and surcharges for long distance
and international telephone calls. MCI has negotiated an
88 Million-Dollar cash settlement fund to pay to
customers who file by the dead line of April 22, 2001.

Two filing options have been purposed to the court. The first option, (Option A) requires you to provide the telephone numbers to which the undue charges may have been applied. It also requires you to provide an approximate time frame of the charges. MCI will review their billing records and reimburse you the appropriate amount overcharged, plus interest.

Under the second option, (Option B) even if you cannot give the telephone number or the approximate time period
during which you subscribed to MCI long distance service,
you can still receive a flat cash settlement of $75.00.

A Caveat Here Is If You Read The Legal Print...

You agree to pay them a sum equal to thirty-three and one third percent (33.3%) of whatever may be recoved, from
your refund check. So read closely and if you think
this should be here please DELETE IT. I just wanted
to pass along the message.

Really lame website. No obvious legal or government affiliation. If there is such a suit, there are other ways to receive your settlement (check with MCI or a consumer group). If there is no such suit, then these guys have your telephone number and email address.

This does appear to be a true suit. http://www.rateclaims.com is a much better site with the same basic information, but at least they provide a mailing address and an 800 number. I didn't see anything about a finder's fee. Their deadline isn't until Apr 30th.

Excellent Follow Up....
http://www.rateclaims.com does appear to be the direct
place to file your claim, what a sham that the other site
was trying to take a huge percentage of something you
can do without their help.
Good Job

I got something in the mail several months ago about this class action suit, but I didn't pay any attention to it. So the maximum payout is $75.00 minus $25.00 for lawyer's fees?

I still haven't received a dime from that buy.com 19" monitor C.A.L. a couple of years ago.

Don't bother waiting for payment on Class Action Suits. I'm not saying you'll never get paid, but it takes so long, you're better off forgetting about it, and just being "pleasantly surprised" when the check comes. I got $250 from the baby formula CAL, and that took years.
