I got my new laptop stolen out of my car. I've gotten ripped off 3 times in the past 6 months. It really hurts. I even had a big project report in my laptop that was due today. No backup of course. I left my car in my back parking lot for a minute to bring stuff up to my apt., and when I came back with a friend to help me carry some more stuff up, my door was wide open and my laptop bag was gone. This is the kind of stuff that can drive a person insane. I'm starting to think that the percentage of evil people in this world is a lot higher than I thought.

Next time, I guess you'll remember to put the laptop in the trunk, or if nothing else, lock the doors! :(

No seriously, that does suck. Maybe your car is excessively easy to break into. Does your insurance rate reflect this? Maybe you're using flaming red laptop bags that grab attention. Maybe you need to put the laptop in the truck as Jenny suggested. Maybe even get a lockbox from Tuffy and put it in the trunk, so there'd be two locks between the thief and the laptop, not just one. If thefts are this frequent I'd start worrying about my own safety. There's obviously something that's making you an easy target.

Ah...the memories. But those incindents actually turned out ok. Alex (or whoever it was) paid us back eventually, and I got my phone and palm pilot back from insurance. I think the trick is to just let go, not get frustrated, and try to work around it. I was cramming so bad yesterday to get that report done. I try to keep on thinking (in-between thoughts of shooting the thief with a shotgun) that it could have been worse. I could have gotten my car stolen *knocks on wood*, or I could be starving. But still, that was a phat $2400 laptop. I have to get rid of this bad luck. waaaahhhh!
