I know you all have opinion on this.
Who will be gaming GOD this time next year?
Has PS2 scared away all of it's fans to the Dreamcast?
Now that Dreamcast is done and Sega is putting out it's big name games for the X-Box, will the X-box be on top?
Nintendo says it won't make the same mistakes as they did with the N64. Will GameCube have a shot?
I for one can't figure out weather to go with the GameCube or the X-box. PS2 just isn't doing it for me with it's crappy games.
What do you folk out there think? X-Box, GameCube, or PS2?

I think you need 2 things to make a killer system:
1. many games (some of them have to be good)
2. Piricability (i think i just made up a new word :))

read in my last issue of EGM that Nintendo might price the GameCude at 149.... it's not confirmed, only a "might"....
if that were true... talk about affordability, and they have those little mini-CDs... how cool!!! =)
anyway, the X-Box is just a console looking PC.... I don't know, still have my doubts about that one...
Loving my PSone and DC still... PS2?.. well, none of their games have really caught my attention. The only one that I'm waiting for is Metal Gear 2... and THAT will be my one reason for buying the PS2. But I can wait, since the MG2 is released in the fall of this year, which is cool since X-Box and Gamecube is released then as well. Hopefully, the PS2 will be cheaper then.
Snake? Snake?!?! SNAKE!!!!!!!!

Yes, more games the better. And having a price tag around 30-50 a game will keep them coming off the shelves. That was proven with the playstation.
X-Box will most likely be big on putting out as many titles as possible. They have quite the number of software backers that are looking forward to kicking out games for this system. But at what cost per game? My gues between 40-60 bucks.
GameCube will most likely have a few more out this time around compared to the N64. I wouldn't expect that much more though. They are good for saying they will have lots of stuff coming out and only releasing 40% of what they said. But games for sure will be around 50-70 bucks. Plus Nintendo says they are still looking at putting out mostly Family games. Not much for the more adult gamer. This will cost them sales but Nintendo always holds its own.
PS2 already has tons of games to choose from since you can play most of the old playstation games on it but the newer games haven't been getting that much attention. Price is not too bad but a bit high between 40-60.

X-Box will be KING.
1 reason...it's microsoft.

That might the bottom line here. Out of all three companies that are in the ring, Microsoft is the only one that has the money and support to put their unit on top. Nintendo will always have it's market. They sell to a very specific market. But for the rank of king and with Sega supporting the X-box now too, Sony may not be in the video game market for long. Now I don't think Sony will stop making units and games but I do think they will be just another Sega Saturn or Dreamcast. Not a bad unit and okay games but no where near the power of the X-Box.
GameCube will be cool! But for the Adult gamer the X-Box may be the one to have. At this point unless Sony makes a major change between now and 2002, we can assume PS2 is just a dead horse.

I don't know what you guys have against the PS2. I think it's a great system with some good games coming (not to mention some good games out now). Think about it. It's DVD Player/PS2/PSX all in one. It's actually a good deal.
Here's some good games out now:
Onimusha
SSX
Madden 2001
Dead or Alive 2 Hardcore
Tekken Tag Tournament
Ring of Red
Star Wars: Starfighter (the first lucasarts game in 2 years to NOT suck)
Shadow of Destiny
Here's some good games out in the future. Consider getting a PS2 for these games. By the time they come out, the PS2 should be lower in price.
Crazy Taxi (DC port, but should have better graphics and more gameplay)
NBA Street (Next game by EASports BIG)
Gran Turismo 3 A-spec
Twisted Metal Black
Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance
Gauntlet: Dark Legacy (hopefully it won't suck like it did on the DC)
Time Crisis 2
Black and White (eh...)
Final Fantasy X (no brainer)
Final Fantasy XI
Metal Gear Solid 2 (no brainer)
Para Para Paradise (Dance Dance Revolution clone)
Tecmo Bowl
Virtua Fighter 4
And since it's also a PSX you can play Final Fantasy IX!!
(22 hours and counting)
In conclusion, I don't know why people are bashing the PS2 (actually I was one of them before I got mine). I'm actually worried the XBox will fail. I don't think they can sell that thing for less that $400 and they don't have any titles to look for yet other than Halo, but that'll be on PC as well. Sure they have developers up the wazzoo, but why haven't they announced something cool yet??
The Gamecube is a mystery because I think Nintendo is moving away from the mainstream console business and making the gamecube as a electronic toy for kids. I expect to see sequels to their primary licenses (Zelda, Mario, Donkey Kong, Kirby, Mario Kart, Castlevania, etc.) and about a million and a half Pokemon games.
So basically it's the XBox v. the PS2. And the PS2 has a huge lead in games, especially if you consider all those PS2 japanese games that they haven't imported yet.
The PS2 thus far has mainly proved to be a bunch of hype and a disapointment. It seems like people are just buying the PS2 because of hype-its the in thing to have.
As for your question who will be gaming god next year: Nintendo will be number 2. Either the PS2 or Xbox will be number one.
You know Microsoft with its deep pockets won't be going away. Its here to stay.
As said before Nintendo mainly appeals to the kiddie gamers. So how smart was it of Nintendo to release an adult game {Conkers bad fur day} at the end of the N64's life?
The Gamecube specs are not be as good as the Xbox's. But people who have seen it in action have said its impressive.
The bottom line is its the games that make a system worth buying.

All too true, but I think the hype of PS2 is dead. People aren't buying the thing for hype, but for its games now. However, I still feel that there aren't enough games for the PS2. This should change before the Xbox comes out however...

Sony is trying to set it up so that when the GameCube comes out they will release the next Final Fantsy that same day! Boy that's low.
The games will make the system that's for sure. PS2 does have some good games but looking at the line up for what's coming out for X-Box, boy this going to be close to call for sure. What you have to watch out for is PS2 sales are good, but there are a lot of returns and reselling of the system going on too. Sony has report loss on it sales due to high returns. Also they lost two software backers in the last 3 months bring the total to 6 since the system came out. 4 of these companies sign on with Microsoft and the other 2 went to Nintendo. Sony will be releasing a lot of the same games it had on the playstation for the PS2 which will make fans happy but more and more people are looking for something new. This gives X-box and edge over PS2 before it's even out in the market.
In the old days this use to be a no brainer argument but now is too hard to guess which way all us gaming Geeks will turn.
