I thought this was interestingly, funny...

Server 54, Where Are You? (http://www.techweb.com/wire/story/TWB20010409S0012)

The University of North Carolina has finally found a network server that, although missing for four years, hasn't missed a packet in all that time. Try as they might, university administrators couldn't find the server. Working with Novell Inc. (stock: NOVL), IT workers tracked it down by meticulously following cable until they literally ran into a wall. The server had been mistakenly sealed behind drywall by maintenance workers.

What else would you expect from the morons over there in Chapel Hell?

hehe... 4 years without a software upgrade. If it is a file server, then they are pretty damn behind.

AHHH the power of NOVEL. I'd like to see an NT4 box do that!

Too bad Novell's gonna go out of buisness.

Yeah, but ever since I got a Novell server back up and running with sewing thread and crazy glue, Ive had a special bond with the OS. Literally and Figuratively (for a while my fingers were crazy glued to the motherboad).

Damn I wish we could find the polaroids

At a previous employer, I had gone to a branch office to do some software upgrades and had to install some more memory in their Novell 3.12 server. Damn thing had been up for over 4 1/2 years, I almost shed a tear when I powered it off. Novell makes a solid server product, it's a shame they didn't keep pushing when they were so far ahead of everyone else.

that one commercial that microsoft had that was braggin about servers not having to be maintained as much...they were in effect saying "ya, we're behind, but we are almost to the point where other OS's were years ago." and btw, i agree that it works, and it's pretty. i just like linux, ok?
