I am wanting to hook up a Dish Network or DirecTV system into my home. I only need to have the ability to watch one program at a time. However, I want to be able to watch the program in two separate rooms and to control the channels from each room. I have seen a lot of info on setting up a system to watch two separate programs (requiring the dual satellite dish and a $5/mo. charge), but none on splitting the signal to two different tv's.

Questions:

1) Can this be done with simply a basic dish plus two receivers?

2) Do I have to pay the $5/mo. fee?

You can do this with no problem and no fee. You will need a RF remote you carry from room to room or 2 RF remotes. Some receivers have IR and some have RF. The extra $5.00 fee is for the authorization of the slave receiver so you can watch 2 different things at the same time.
