I installed an internal zip to my HP 6830. I'm having 2 problemos.

1) After downloading the driver from Iomega, it is not recognizing the hardware. When I go to "add new hardware" under control panel, it tells me that the hardware is there but there is a problem with it. Not sure what the problem could be.

2) At boot up, the system takes me to the BIOS settings and I have to reset my clock and the date. Do I need to configure the BIOS to recognize the new zip drive?

Do any of your bios setting, besides the date, change back to default? It sort of sounds like the battery on your motherboard died.
As far as the zip drive go to control panel > system > device manager and find the drive in the list. It may be called unknown device or something but it will have a yellow question mark or exclamation point next to it. Double click that and if you are lucky, somewhere in there it will give you a hint as to why it isn't working. Let us know what you find.

Depending on the OS that you are using, sometimes you want to install the software before hooking up the hardware. I found that under ME there were problems with the zip as well.

Make sure the connection is solid and correct. Sometimes when I mess around in my case, I may accidently knock a cable out a fraction of an inch...enough to cause it to be "disconnected", so that the computer doesn't recognise it.

don't know if this relates, but I know there's a class action lawsuit towards Iomega right now. Your problem might/might not be related, but it's something you might want to look into

The class action lawsuit pertains to the "click of death" that Zip Drives have. Anyways, Iomega will give you some kind of rebate towards a new drive. *whatever*
