Alrite the Simpsons trivia thread is doing pretty good. How bout a little trivia from the best movie out there...The Rock, with Sean Connery, Nicholas Cage, and Ed Harris. I've seen this movie over 30 times, and its still great.
:johnwoo2: Here's a couple for you:

How many marines were on General Hummel's side? (including Hummel) How did each of them die?

How many rockets did Hummel's men steal?

How many hostages were there on Alcatraz?

I think he stole 15 rockets cause one busted on the way out and he couldn't salvage it for his intended 16. Can't think of any other answers. Guess I'll have to go watch it again!

The Rock was a pretty decent but typical Bruckenheimer flick. I must admit the last part with the atropene shots was pretty cool.

Man, with all this talk about The Rock, I think I will watch it right now. Hopefully I'll have some more answers for you tomorrow, rum.

I don't know how many people there were in the Generals side, but I can tell you how a lot of them died...here goes:

1. First one dropped a rocket and had to be locked in the vault where he had dropped it and the gas killed him.

2. Next one was killed by Sean Connery throwing a knife at the guy's neck.

3. Next guy had a big air conditioning unit fall on his head. (What do you want me to do? Kill him again? :))

4. Next one was burned for a little while and then was somehow hooked to a cart which fell in the water.

5. Next guy got shot by Nick Cage

6. Sean Connery broke guy's neck

7. Next guy General shot

8. Second in command shot.

9. General killed

10. One had a rocket shot at him and it knocked him into a fence poll which impailed him.

11. Next guy was knocked into the floor below. (don't know if he was killed or not)

12. Next guy hung with chains

13. Last guy had vx gas shoved up his throat.

So I guess there were 13 people?

OK, there were 81 hostages on the island. None were executed, although Larry Henderson almost got his head blown off.
I am still not sure how many marines were on Hummel's side though. The exact number was not mentioned, but I have a guess. He wanted a ransom of $100 million, $83 million of which was to be paid in reparations to the families of those marines whose memories the government "betrayed". So that leaves $17 million for the general to disperse at his "discretion". Now, he promised one million dollars each to those men in service to him, so if he was going to take an equal cut for himself, there were 17 marines on Hummel's side, including Hummel himself.
If not, I would have to go with GraingerGuy's guess.
Man I love that movie . . .

Pretty good GraingerGuy, but you forgot one of them. There were 3 marines who were killed after Goodspeed and Mason rode that mine cart type thing. Your #4 and #5 are right, but there's one in between. Mason knocked one guy out of the car thing with his gun, and he fell out to the bottom and died. :johnwoo2:

Anybody got some questions for me???

81 hostages is correct Full Monty.

What did Hummel put on his wife's tombstone?
Why did Isherwood owe Goodspeed $5?
How fast was Mason going in the Hummer?
What is Mason's daughter's name?
What are the launch coordinates of the first rocket?

Full Monty

-Hummel put a medal on her tombstone.
-I think he owed him $5 because Goodspeed hit a target with his dart gun, but I can't quite remember.
-Think Mason was going 70 in the Hummer.
-Mason's daughter's name was Jade Angalou.
-Launch coordinates were set to hit 3COM park I believe.

-Hummel put a US Congressional Medal of Honor on his wifes tombstone...

Good answers Full Monty, except for the launch coordinates, I'm asking for the numerical coordinates. :hihi:

Full Monty

Um, don't quite remember the launch coordinates. That's a wee bit obscure for me.

I'm a true Rock fan. I just have to watch the movie a few dozen more times to keep up with you, rum. Any more questions?

rum

Since it doesn't look like anyone will get the launch coordinates without watching the movie again, its 675459. You're right. That is a little too random. I don't know why I know that.

Some more Q's:
How many of Hummel's men were left to rot outside Baghdad?
How much time was left on the timer when Goodspeed disarmed the bomb?
In the hotel, Goodspeed is issued another gun. Where did he leave his own gun?
What is the government's counter measure against VX gas?

Full Monty
04-17-2001, 03:19 PM
Hmm, off the top of my head. . .
-83 of Hummel's men were left to rot outside Baghdad
-don't remember how much time was left, but I'd guess around 20 seconds
-Goodspeed left his gun in his sock drawer
-The government's countermeasure for VX gas was Thermite Plasma, which was supposed to burn hotter than Napalm and consume the gas, although it was still in the test phase when they decided to use it.

After the Navy Seals drop into the tunnels, how far is it to the shower room?
How long does Hummel give the government to meet his demands? (If you watch closely, what Hummel says is different from the time shown on the screen. True Rock fans would not need me to tell them this. :) )
What is the codename of the marine unit in the prison morgue?
Where did Mason hide the microfilm? (what building, city/state, and where in the building)

still waiting on....
How many of Hummel's men were left to rot outside Baghdad?
How much time was left on the timer when Goodspeed disarmed the bomb?

I gotta agree with rum, ChrisMG187. This movie rocks (pardon the pun).
And just for you, rum, I will make an effort to watch it this weekend, maybe even more than once. Happy?
