I got some major problem with my comp. My computer used to go on standby while I'm using it. I'm moving the mouse or typing, and all of a sudden a window pops up and says "Windows is preparing your computer for stand by." I don't know all my specs, other than PII-350 and 64 MB RAM. I'm kind of a newbie.
I kind of fixed this problem by messing around in the BIOS. I changed the "PM controlled by APM" to "no". (I have no idea what that means. Like I said, I was messing around.) It doesn't go on stand-by anymore, but some parts stop working sometimes. I can hear something (I'm guessing hard drive or fans maybe?) inside my comp stop working until I move the mouse, but the screen stays on (the screen is on, but not active). If I leave the comp on, and this problem occurs, my Windows clock stops working and remains at the same time until I move the mouse. I figured out that if i leave Winamp running, it keeps my comp running and the clock active, but it still freezes/lags for a second often.
Any suggestions?
Oh and its not a bad power supply. I have tried replacing that with no success.
