I am about to build a server using a Tyan Tiger 200 (S2505) motherboard. The server will also have a SCSI RAID card by Adaptec, model 2100S. After searching for 'Tyan s2505 scsi' on http://www.deja.com I found these two posts regarding running scsi on this board:

http://groups.google.com/groups?q=tyan+s2505+scsi&hl=en&lr=&safe=off&rnum=1&seld=946366193&ic=1

and

http://groups.google.com/groups?q=tyan+s2505+scsi&hl=en&lr=&safe=off&rnum=2&seld=943059159&ic=1

They basically say that the BIOS on the Tyan board doesnt allow you to set SCSI as a boot device. Is this true? Has this been fixed in the BIOS update from http://www.tyan.com. If anyone is using SCSI with this board, or even if you use the board, I need to know if I will be able to boot using SCSI.

Thanks.

Unless Tyan has listed it in the list of fixes in the different BIOS versions, consider it to still be a problem. Your best bet is to have a IDE drive to boot off of.

I called Tyan and they said that the problem only exists in the older revisions of it. However, even in the new ones, you cannot use the onboard IDE-RAID if you want to boot off of the SCSI HD. I think that regular ATA/100 and booting off SCSI HDs should work.
