HR guy makes it clear that if I don't go along, my resume (for executive position at major public company) goes in trash.
I threaten to go to head of HR and file a suit for discrimination.
Guy calls me back and asks me not to do it (AND THEN ASKS ME OUT AGAIN!! while apologizing)
I am totally freaked. I need a job, but to quote Tone Loc (remember him) "I ain't got no plans with no man!"

WOW! That is perhaps the most suckage I've heard in a LOOOONG time. Get his ass booted man- it'll be nothin' but trouble down the line even if you do get hired. :(

Why work when you can file a lawsuit. If what you say is true then you should have no problems getting a nice check from the company.

Good god, why can't they ever be pretty, sexy and female? At least then you could be flattered. Well, you could be flattered anyway, but without the "Um, Euuuw," feeling.
I dunno, I'd say "well, i could get a job here, or I could sue you. Dating isn't an option. Decide now."

Go to the head of HR, explain the situation, and ask for your resume to be reviewed by someone else. Let HR deal with the guy, and still get considered for the position.
Probably wouldn't do much for your chances of employment to threaten a lawsuit - the company should be smart enough to figure out there is the basis for one and review your resume again.

I did call the head of HR today.
I felt kinda weird after the call. He basically said that in a way, I was making certain demands on them too (that they would have to consider me or I would file a complaint)
I realized that it was not worth a lawsuit (these take years to settle and don't pay THAT much [basically the salary you would have earned] and you are better off just trying to get another job)
I figured I would email him and tell him to let his conscience be his guide. If I was truly wronged, then karma (or a future applicant with a big gun) would right things and if I was wrong, then it is all for the best.
I really hate to lose the job, but I don't want to get a bad name in the industry. Also, if I forced it and got the job, I am afraid the guy would just make my life miserable.

I would have just gone to the guy privately and turned the tables. Look at it this way:
You get the job, and can hang it over his head that he was either a) sexually harassing you during the job-finding process or b) comping you the job in fear of reprisal from said harrassment.
It was a win-win situation for you before you spoke to the head. Now, if anything, you're seen as a shit-disturber, whether the other guy was in the wrong or not.
I would run, not walk, away from the whole situation before you do yourself any harm. People in similar circles talk; this guy'll probably get a bad name, but no sense in getting into a big row over this now that you've played your cards.
i would have fired a warning shot...into his leg :johnwoo2:
