i really messed up this time!! i'm overclocking my amd t-bird 1Ghz and i did the pencil trick. The trick worked but this time when i tried to use a 8.5 multiplier it would revert to 8. so i decided maybe i should rub off the pencil lead with my shirt and add more. BIG MISTAKE! now my computer won't boot. It just beeps! grr. does anybody know how to revert what i just did so i wouldn't have to buy a new one.
sys specs:
amd t-bird 1 ghz proc
abit K7TA-RAID
384 MB PC 133 RAM
and other junk...just ask if u need more info

you didnt get all of the lead off, but you did connect all of the bridges together! Bad move! try using rubbing alcohol to get rid of it.
Also i remember reading about the 8.5 reverting to 8 multiplier. It wasnt your chip, I think I remember it have=ing somehting to do with the bios, and there was an update for it.

One time, I forgot to plug the stupid fan in, the heatsink was burning hot!!! Luckily the mobo stopped all processes and began to beep. Oh man, that saved me a bunch of money. Sometimes we all make dumb mistakes, and some people are just luckier than others. Better luck next time.

yah...haha total loss on the cpu but i got the mobo replaced coz i juss bought it last friday...maybe i should get one a 1GHZ AXIA chip. what do u guys think? 1ghz 200 or 266 flavor? i want the one that will yield better overclocking results...what do u guys think. And yes, this time i will take the extra hour it takes to strap on the heatsink...GRRR!
