Hello,

Motherboard is Soyo SY-6VBA 133:
http://www.soyousa.com/sy6vba133.html . P3 450Mhz 100x4.5 (reported/expected frequency per INTEL software utility), 2 chips total 198MB Memory, Win98 2nd edt FAT32, 1rst HD Maxtor 40GB 7200RPM UDMA66 (54098H8) on Primary Master and older 2nd HD Ultra 33 6.7GB 5400RPM on Primary Slave (90720D5). Hard Drives are partitionned.

Other hardwares: Poor video card, buying one soon; Ricoh CD-RW & DVD combo MP9060A; Onstream DP30 tape back up 30GB; Aureal Vortex SQ2500 audio card (upgrading to Creative Sound Blaster Live Platnium 5.1 soon); RealMagic Hollywood Plus DVD decoder card; Viewsonic A90 19inch; EXTRA pci slot cooling fan; soon purchasing Iwill Raid100 IDE controller card; 3com 56K Int. modem.

Now, per my reading on the net on overclocking with my motherboard and my SOYO guide, I could change DRAM Clock from 100Mhz (current setting) to 133 by changing jumpers as instructed (CPU Freq. MHz to: Manual); then changing DRAM Clock in BIOS setup to 133; plus, changing CPU Host/PCI clock to ?/? and CPU Ratio ? = ?.

It is the question marks that I am not sure about changing, I know how to change them, but what will it mean in speed gain. Plus, my RAM is 100Hz.

Thanks in advance for replies.

Hello,

The PCI fan that I mention in my initial post is precisely an «PC Case Exhaust Fan» and it is located next to INTEL CPU.

Thanks in advance to all replies.

Hello again,

Soyo guide says that «This Motherboard does not use any hardware jumpers to set the CPU frequency. Instead, CPU settings are software configurable with the BIOS SOYO COMBO SETUP».

Funny, I tried to change FSB from 100 to 133 with software, it would not change to 133. I only test changing the numbers: Exit without saving changes in BIOS for the time being.

Hi again,

What determines AGP Clock number and how is it calculated?

Hello,

For Vcore Voltage Adjustment, I have option of +2.5%, +5.0%, +7.5% adn +10.0%. I could start with 5.0 or 7.5 when inputing changes in SOYO BIOS SETUP?

Hello again,

Sharkey overclocking guide on P3 says the following about my 450Mhz:

http://www.sharkyextreme.com/hardware/guides/p3_oc/e.shtml

Intel(r) P3-450 overclocking options:

4.5 x 103MHz = 464MHz
4.5 x 112MHz = 504MHz
4.5 x 117MHz = 527MHz
4.5 x 124MHz = 558MHz
4.5 x 133MHz = 600MHz*

The later is usely none attainable.

P3-450 operating at 2.2v for 558MHz is suggested for Vcore configuration at 2.2v?

Hello,

When changing CPU Frequency Mhz to MANUAL in SOYO BIOS SETUP SOFTWARE, I then change CPU Ratio to x4.5 = 558Mhz, then CPU Host to 124 which change PCI Clock automatically to 41Mhz, the APG Clock also change automatically to 82Mhz. The 82Hz came from dividing 124/1.5.

All above seems to match Sharky Extreme Overclocking Guide. Then, I should change Vcore voltage to +5.0%?

All of the above looks logical. Is this all that is needed?

Hello,

If having my CPU speed increase to 4.5 x 124MHz = 558MHz, while knowing that my RAM is 198MB at 100Hz, is this alright to go over RAM capacity with CPU Speed changes? If yes or no, what will occur?

Thanks for all replies Bob.

Hello Robert,

Per SharkyExtreme.com guide on overclocking, it is likely that with my PC100 SDRAM I will FSB Maximum at 112 or 117Mhz. Probably that your PC133 SDRAM would permit you to push up max 581Mhz.

Best of luck.

Hello Robert,

Please don't do this again.
