View Full Version : Computer Freezing Up

I recently had DSL installed, and now have wonderfully fast internet access. However, my computer has been freezing more and more with these big downloads. I have already installed the latest drivers for my sound card and graphics card, but I was wondering if you guys had anything else that I could try to solve the problem. I do have generic RAM, and have been thinking about getting some of that cheap Crucial RAM....Anyway, here are some specs:
Asus K7V mobo
3D Blaster Annihilator Pro
Creative SB Live!
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I guess I should have posted this in the Technical Support Forum......sorry.
Any moderators want to move it for me?

I say you should see how cool your system is running. Ya might want to throw a couple fans in there.

yeah, might be an overheat problem - or, it might be a NIC problem...make sure your NIC drivers are current.
On the outside, it could be a bad ethernet cable.

is it a nic or usb network adapter? i had probs with my usb adapter and put in a nic. works fine now

I'll say it's most likely a heat problem, the drivers for the nic shouldn't be an issue here, what OS are you running, Win98 SE usually has this problem
Screen savers are evil and can cause this prob, so be sure to disable them. Also look into disabling any power management features for diagnostic purposes.
