I need some quick money for an emergency. Anybody know any good credit cards I can apply for on the internet? I'd prefer no annual fee and none of all the junk that often comes with online applications (processing fees, application fee, service fee, etc.) My credit isn't awesome, but it's good enough that I could probably pass for some of the lower end cheap cards.

I tried the Aria Card at Aria.com. It didn'thave any of the stupid processing fees, but I was approved and was offered a card with a $89 annual fee...that's a little too much. I'm sure there are plenty of cards out there without any annual fee. I mean I'm gonna get f*cked over enough with the APR anyway.

No no, even I was turned down for AMEX Blue.

What's the deal with Amex/Amex Blue (for students)? Do you have to pay off your whole balance every month? Or can you just pay minimum like regular CCs?

please don't flame me..... but as a poor college student every dollar counts!
i tried emailing UCBstan...but he has the email option turned off....
so here is the link:
https://my.nextcard.com/nc/raf/raf.asp?ref=NCB1008618&promo=raf
it IS a referral link.... i just thought it would be easier to put it here.. rather than open a new thread for no reason under MLM....
they charge ZERO annual... you do everything online.... NO payments.. and within 30 seconds you know whether you are approved or not....
the usual credit limit is around $1000 ... and it increases if you do a balance transfer.. but they aren't necessary...

It's just like a "normal" credit card. Actually to my knowledge, it's AmEx's only card that's like that. All other ones you have to pay the balance in full at the end of the month.

Dang..I guess you have a better credit history than I do, the only card I was approved for had a pretty low credit limit and had a $89 annual fee....
any more, people?
Hmmm. Have you tried Discover yet? Also you can always bite the bullet and go grab a loan from a bank if you need the money quickly. It'd be better than maxing out a couple of credit cards, at least you'd only have one payment a month.

I would also like one of those funds established for me. I spent the last $15 in my wallet on beer today after work instead of buying food, which I sorely need because my fridge is bare. :D

Hey Coleslaw I feel for you man. I suggest digging through your couch and heading to one of your local Taco stands. :)
Here's a decent credit card link(no referral of course)
http://www.peoples.com/creditcards
They helped me get out of two bad APR's with a balance transfer. I have 2.9% until August, then up to 10%. Not too shabby.
Good luck!

You can carry a balance on AmEx's Optima Card (and get frequent stay points with Hilton).
UCBSTAN, Are you a student? Check with your university. Most schools have an emergency short term loan program that will provide $200-$500 usually without interest. Check with the Dean of Student Life's office or whoever is in charge of Dorm life (they usually handle loan stuff too).
Good luck.

yup I tried the Providian card through mail-in app a couple weeks ago, and I certainly was approved for a Providian "Gold" (my ass) Visa card. It has a pretty high APR, but no fees and a decent $500 credit limit to begin with. It was just what I was looking for, but the "Gold" title sort of threw me off. I was expecting a higher credit limit, but I'm prefectly happy with what I got. I just need about another $500 with another card and I should be clear of danger.
I tried for the People's Card that EsDeeLoco mentioned above. The online application process was easy and good but at the end they said I would have to wait 30 days for a response in the mail...I'm in a bit if a rush now, so I'm gonna continue looking on the net. Thanks for all your help guys, but I'm gonna need some more recommendations.

Clear of danger, eh? What kind of an emergency was this? If you don't care to share, that's fine...

nothing too serious...
My cousin who's living overseas sent me about a grand to buy car audio products back in April 2000. I was supposed to bring them to him when I go see him in the end of next month. Back then I had another little financial emergency (long story...girlfriend...long distance phone charges...blah blah...) so I thought I'm not gonna see my cousin for at least another year, so I guess I'll just borrow his money for now....well, it's time to see him in a month and I have to come up with a grand so I can buy his stuff for him. None of my friends are rich enought o lend me money, so I'm resorting to high-interest vampire credit card companies. Better than my cousin shooting me....
speaking of which, anybody know any cheap car audio companies?
(FYI, I need the Precision Power PC4800.2 amplifier and a Nakamichi CD45z CD player. One good thing though, at least they're much cheaper than if I bought them back then.)
ooohh...this is my 666th post...

hahaha, that is a hilarous situation you have gotten yourself into. I don't mean to laugh at your misfortunes, but it's quite amusing to say the least. maybe if you can find the stuff for super cheap, you can tell your cousin that you spent the whole wad on the equipment and put the difference toward paying off the interest! But then again, I'm sure you have a conscious... :D

nope...that's exactly what I was planning to do. :kaching:
I'm assuming you go to UCB. Don't you have credit card stands all over camps? The kind where you get the free t-shirts or calling cards or whatever. I signed up for those at my school just to get the free gifts. I put my income as 0 cuz I didn't really want the cards, but to my surprise, they accepted me. There weren't any annual fees or anything, so I just kept them.

yeah they usually have a lot at the biggining of each semester when new incoming students are pumped up about their new independent life beyond their parents' influence, but not many nowadays...and those usually take a while to come in the mail. But I'll have to look around just in case. Good idea. Thanks.
