Has anyone used a piece of software called Quest@Home that supposedly removes the cap on the speed of cable modems? I guess it makes changes to your registry to maximize speed. Does this actually work? Thanks.

xsiled does not know what he is talking about. If you are running Win95/98/ME, check out SpeedCorp's Win9x Enhancer for cable modems. I'm not too sure about Quest@Home though. I used it once and didn't really notice anything different. Also, just do some research on any search engine for registry tweaks for cable modems. Using registry tweaking, I have been able to at least triple my download speeds. Just be careful! Whatever you do, make a backup of your registry! Good luck!

It had nothing to do with my cable modem access, it was the limitations that Windows had placed upon download speeds due to crappy-ass registry settings... If I remember correctly, my downloads in linux were superfast, and Win2k as well, so it's just the crap that Win0x/ME puts in the registry...and, well, I forget the rest, but your mother is a whore!!

Another suggestion is to check out http://www.dslreports.com . . . they will analyze your connection and tell you exactly what you need to tweak.
